I am going to get the recipe from my wife about the pizza she made last night. Basically the ingrediants were whole wheat dough, turkey pepperoni, green peppers, mushrooms, and weight watchers mozzerala cheese.

If you know anything about weight watchers, 5 slices was a total of 13 points. And, it was REALLY good.

Does it use tomato sauce of any kind? Guess I'll have to wait for the post :)

I'll post the general ingrediants now... but I will get the actual recipe from my wife - we have been busy all week.

It uses a wheat dough for the crust, Hornel's turkey pepperoni, Kraft 2% Mozzerella, and I do think it is very light on tomato sauce. It's only 3 points a slice if you know anything about weight watchers, which works out to be no more than 200 calories and no more than 2g of fat per slice.

how is that possible! because of high fiber content?? Sounds really good though, minus the shrroms ;)

No, weight watchers only allows a maximum of 4g of fiber in any recipe...this is to avoid people who think they can go to Pizza Hut and buy "fiber substitutes" and pour it on one slice.

So here is the recipe...

Makes 1 standard round size pizza pan pizza (8 servings)

1 16-ounce package of Pizza Buddy Wheat Pizza Dough
1/2 Cup Pizza Sauce (your favorite brand, should be fat free)
17 Slices Hormel Turkey Pepperoni
1/2 Cup sweet green pepper, diced
1/2 Cup onion, diced
1/2 Cup uncooked mushrooms, sliced
2/3 Cup Weight Watchers Reduced Fat Shredded Mexican-Style Cheese (or Mozzarella Cheese)

Press Pizza dough onto a round pizza pan. Add 1/2 cup pizza sauce. Spread sauce to
within 1/2 inch of outer edge. Place pepperoni evenly on top of sauce. Place pepper and
onions over pepperoni evenly. Add mushrooms evenly. Sprinkle with 1/3 cup of cheese.
Bake on bottom shelf of a preheated 400 degree oven for about 20 min. or until crust is golden.

The entire pizza comes out to approximately 1307 calories. Each slice (8 per pizza) is approximately 163 calories.

You could add other toppings as well, just remember more toppings mean more calories, so adjust accordingly.

This recipe comes out to 3 points per serving for those on Weight Watchers.

Compare to:

There are 370 calories in 1 serving of DiGiorno Rising Crust Pizza - Supreme.
There are 230 calories in 1 serving of Pizza Hut 12" Medium Supreme Thin'N Crispy Pizza.
There are 200 calories in 1 serving of Pizza Hut 12" Medium Cheese Thin'N Crispy Pizza.
There are 287 calories in 1 piece of Thick Crust Cheese Pizza with Vegetables.
There are 250 calories in 1 serving of Domino's Pizza Hand-tossed Pepperoni Pizza (Medium).
There are 210 calories in 1 serving of Domino's Pizza Hand-tossed Cheese Pizza (Medium).
There are 350 calories in 1 serving of Domino's Pizza Ultimate Deep Dish Vegetarian Pizza (Large).
There are 210 calories in 1 serving of Papa John's 12" Original Crust Pizza - Cheese.

ENJOY!

PS and FYI:

Weight Watchers is based on total calories, fiber (no more than 4grams), and total fat (not just saturated).

If you like chicken wings, try substituting some wing sauce (homemade or bottled...I use Frank's RedHot) for the tomato sauce and grilled chicken for the pepperoni and veggies. I use that plus some shredded mozz on whole wheat dough and it makes a killer chicken wing pizza. If you have a favorite BBQ sauce, use that instead of the buffalo wing sauce and you have BBQ chicken pizza. I also like to add a little red onion to both, but that is completely optional.
