This lil Alvarez MD60C has to be one of the sweetest Acoustics I have ever played.
The owner got it in as a trade in on a new Les Paul and asked if I was interested.
I had played the $920 new one hanging on the wall so I was impressed with it so "Ya I am interested". He brings it out and it looks to be brand new, not even a pick mark. He then says the only issue is that the guy didnt have the case that came with the guitar. I look it over and still cant find anything.....play it for 30 mins or so and it is bright and clear great tone. Plug it in the elec's are all great as well. The local "I can play anything" guy stops by after finishing up a banjo lesson in the studio room and show me a few tweaks to do on the amp and guitar. The owner asks what I think its worth (like I have a clue..) The previous owner had it a couple months but prefers Martin or Taylors, didnt like the neck. I am figuring $900 new, its flawless, couple months old, no case = $600-700 (out of my price range) So I guess $600 being hopeful. So he tags it $600. We talk for a bit and as usual I am gleaning info from both of them on playing techniques and tricks. Learned there is a product to cut down on "Sting Talk" that you wipe on the strings and fret board and then wipe off. (going to have to try that) Couple of my HS Students came in as well looking at Elec Guitars and Amps so we had a mini jam with the 5 of us. One of my students ends up buying a Marshall amp and the other a used Epi Elec. Les Paul. After they head out I am just looking around getting ready to head out when the owner tells me if I want the Alavarez to let him know that I can have it for $450 but he is going to leave it tagged $600, since I helped him make 2 sales that day. Not that I have $450 laying around......but I am going to have to start looking.

Anyone have a favorite product that they use for "String Talk"? I bought one today that you spray on the strings and fret board ...says you can polish it onto the back of the neck as well. Dont remeber the brand offhand

One nice thing about the Fret Board Cleaner is that it conditions the callouses (sp) so that they are softer. Trying to talk the wife into the Living Room set that is $500 cheaper than the other one she picked out....(Guitar Money)

Best of luck in that endeavor. Guitars are very addicting!!

The really odd thing is my wife does not see hanging all my guitars in the bedroom and a good idea. I dont get it, I build us a monster sized master bedroom so there is tons of room but this she just doesnt see happening.
So plan B is to redo the kids old toy room into my guitar getaway room. My youngest is going for this idea as there would be room for a full drum kit in there (that she is saving up for).

I even mentioned there would be room for at least 3 guitars on the headboard.....that one got me a look that I cant even describe.

Plenty of room for the guitars, but only because there'd be no wife there sleeping with you?

I have to admit, I can understand why she doesn't want them in her bedroom.(..yea I said hers LOL, you just share it with her =p) A bedroom is a mother's get away. Now, I always have one in my bedroom, but I play them tho. I have even been known to fall asleep with one next to me in my bed.

Good luck on the music room! While my kids were all at home...that was everyones favorite room. Their friends would come over and would not go home! But I knew where they were =) A few of their friends even learned to play from hanging out at my home. My youngest (when he was 7) would even have private concerts in there for the family LOL He would make us ticket stubs and all! I think all families should have a music room!

My favorites stay in my den tho. I like to keep my eye on them. I do keep them all on my guitar rack mostly. I haven't hung any up. I think they are more inviting for the kids to pick and play then when you hang them.

Here is what I have in one cornor of my den...this is my baby! A big baby that is.

Yea, I play an upright also. (sorry it isn't a full pic and has my cat in it..I didn't feel like taking another pic, this one I had on myspace)

Good luck on the music room!
