With LOA running WotLK raids on Wednesday and Friday nights now, I wonder how much interest there might be to run the old world raids for a couple of weeks.

Earlier this evening a small group of us decided to attempt Blackwing Lair to down the bosses and receive the BWL clear achievement, but we were horribly beat back at the second boss. Once word of this got out into the /g channel alot of interest was expressed in running old world raids again. With most of us in lvl 80 raiding gear, these raids should progress rather quickly, and give us all an opportunity to see what the "old" end game material was like (and to farm some achievements)

If there is sufficient guild interest, I'll see about scheduling one old raid a week until we have cleared all of the old raids. Old world raids have a raid size cap of 40, so there is no danger of not having a spot if you are interested. I am thinking a weekend afternoon would be the best time to run these, and they should not take long.

So what say you guildies; would you like to run some of the old stuff?

I think it might be fun with Elghinnen. He's 70. Since I've never been on a raid, this sounds safe enough with all the extras you have now ;)

Alright, sounds like we have some interest! I wouldn't worry about level or gear too much; these mobs will be lvl 60-63 tops (most have between 80-160k health for bosses, which is 3 man material at in the lvl 70-80 range). I want to stress that you shouldn't feel like you need the uber gear to run these; this is for fun and we should all own these mobs :)

Considering that this weekend is the start of the Lunar Festival world event, I think that next weekend will be the first old world raid attempt. I'm thinking Saturday Jan 31st around say 2pm server time? Does that work for everyone?

I'll have to log on with me mage and brush up. Haven't played him for over a year ;) I'll be there. Is server time central time, Pacific time or what? I'm not so sure my system displays server time any more with the UI add-ons I have installed.

Lengthy,
Its kind of funny that you all hit BWL. I spent about a week down in BRD and BRS, gaining access to UBRS, MC and BWL in an attempt to get the the Beast for my new pet.

Thanks to some help from Woozle we made an attempt at the beast in UBRS but after 20min of straight taming attempts we concluded that his knockback made it impossible without a Pally's help.

We moved on to MC and cleared the entrance by ourselves and I was able to tame the same dog from there. AWSOME

With that being said, I took a huge break from WOW. By the time I came back I realized I missed all the Old World End Game as everyone had moved to the expansion Outlands. Now that I am lvl 80 I have been running alot of the old instances as I have never been to them and it is all new Content for me. They are alot of fun for me

I would absolutely LOVE to be in on some old world raids. A few points that we need to keep in mind; it would be best if everyone made an attempt to get Atoned to BWL prior. I am sure most of you know but not all, before you can even get to BWL you need to obtain access to UBRS.

The Easiest way to do this if through someone who already has gained access to UBRS. Otherwise it includes doing a series of quests which includes clearing the 3 main bosses of LBRS and running to Dustwallow marsh to tame a dragon yada yada yada..

After which a minimum of 3 persons are required to get past the first section of UBRS, complete a quest at the end boss and boom your atoned to BWL.

I can help ANYONE who needs access to UBRS. You can pretty much Solo UBRS at lvl 80 but the 3 man restriction rule still applies. Let me know if anyone needs a hand with this as I would love to help.

I know all the original raids (although we can probably power through a lot of the encounters without knowing strategies), and have lead plenty of them, so there should be zero problem getting a group with mixed 60-80's through.

I've got all the keys, special summoning stuff, resist gear (cloak, hah), attunements, and so on, although I don't know if certain things are still necessary (like, the Drakefire Amulet to get into Onyxia).

Let me know, and maybe set up those speakers to pick up voice chat, and we'll squish stuff!

I forgot about the keys. I have no keys. how hard is it to get those?

Evomayec

Gimme a shout in game, this way you can skip over the key to UBRS and just atone to BWL just need to pick up the quest before hand by killing the quartermaster to get the letter that starts the quest for atonement to BWL http://thottbot.com/i18987

I have invited a ton of people to the event using the in game calendar feature. If I have missed you it is unintentional, and just let me know via forum PM, in game whisper, shout it out in /g, or mail me in game and I will make sure you are invited.

And for clarity with time, I have set the event for 2pm EST. Our first raid will be UBRS so that we can get everyone attuned for a future BWL attempt.

Should we burn through UBRS fast enough, we could always down Onxyia too - she's a quick 30min as well. And Dem, no attunement necessary for Onxyia anymore. Anyone can waltz in now.

Is there anything special we need to do to get into the raid, beforehand? Any keys, supplies, etc? You do realize that you may be taking some total newbs with you, right? ;)

hey guys, we've run these a few times, and heading into onyxia, mC and BWL again are a blast. One bit of advice on BWL tho. You'll need a fair amount of people with the onyxia scale cloak when you hit nefarian. The shadow flame he does will still kill off a lvl 80 raid geared person. We found this out the hard way lol.

I'm a packrat, I still have that stashed, plus all the weird key bits from all over. I don't remember if the bosses still scale to be +3 over the highest level person, so it might be interesting bringing in smaller folk.

Would any fire resist work or do you need the cloak? This thing looks like it is crafted. Do we have any members that could make a few?

Crafted from Onyxia scales if I remember correctly, so we'd have to do that first.

So yesterday we had a decent turnout (about 10 people). Instead of doing LBRS/UBRS to get everyone attuned to BWL, we decided to go for Onyxia and Molten Core. Onyxia was a very quick down (less than 3 minutes I would say), and next time I will be smart and give the Head to our LW so they can learn the pattern (doh).

Molten Core took longer, considering we had about 5 people needing attunement. All bosses went down super easy, with the exception of that one guy with the 4 priests (he went down after all of his priests went OOM, annoying fight). I think we may put Onyxia on farm so as to get enough scales to make cloaks for our future BWL attempt, so that Nefarion doesn't own us too hard.

Plan for next week: Zul'Gurub and AQ20 (Ruins of AQ). These raids do not require attunement, so anyone can come along. Both should also be relatively quick; I fully anticipate that we would be done both within 2 hours.

Once again, thank you for all those that showed! Looking forward to eventually downing all the Old World raids, and then, on to Burning Crusade raids :-D

Hey Pahimar. I want to thank you immensely for your patience with me on the raid. I'm sure you could tell that was my first raid in WOW. I think I was the only one that died, and I did so twice. I still had fun :)

Thanks!

MC was pretty fun. It was the first time I was there. As far as the one tough fight with the priests, it didnt seem well planned. Everyone kept switching targets. Marking mobs for kill order made thing alot easier.

why not BT and hyjal ? dont think you need attunement for those anymore. Ran BT tonight with 13 ppl and you can own the place , its by far the coolest place I have seen. Sunwell would be cool to. Or some serious MC , rags was the bomb.

Having just gotten back into the game, and with my highest level toon being only 67, I would love to do some old world raids with folks, even if it is just so I can run with the guild a little more.

at 68 you can hop to northrend if you have the expansion.

So Evo and I were talking last night and got wondering, would people be interested in doing these raids again? The only requirement is that your character is above level 60. I personally had a lot of fun doing these this spring with everyone; it really was a blast to be playing with everyone. And the best part is that gear isn't an issue like the Northrend raids! Anyone can come!

So, who is interested? :)

I would really be interested in this, but perhaps we should start a new thread for it, since it's a fresh set organization of the event?

Nope, this is a yes i have the cloak and live or a no i dont and die spell. I would run old school raids on my old server and i could never get lvl 80s in the leet gear to understand this, so ide take them anyway, they would all die, then come up with a master plan to buy scales off the AH. Running Ony is fun anyway, i may move an alt to your guys server to mess around with you. Do most of you play in on the same server?

Yes, we all play on the Lothar server. Let us know if you would like any crafted gear we can make you or even a run through of some instances to get you better gear. I'm always up to helping a fellow guildie gear up!

I only have Onxy and MC done, would like to get Black Wing lair next.

But I will do any instance/raid anytime. Just look for Laref, can tank or heal any old world no problem. Been soloing the old instances for achievements.

I'd love to help with some of the old dungeons. Quite a few I never saw. I'm not a leader in this sort of thing. I tend to get turned around/lost in some of the more complicated dungeons. However, I'll be more than happy to join up with someone who does know the area, or even explore and learn the hard way with people who haven't a clue.

If you want to lead something in MC or anywhere for that matter, set it up on the ingame callender and have people sign up. That's a great tool that's not used enough if you ask me.

I'd be game for it. However, I haven't seen a lot of the old world high end content, there for it may be a bunch of /point and kill. Like Velk said, put it in the calendar and lets see what happens.

I know it's reaching to start thinking of Cataclysm, but when all eyes do return to the new old content, I'd love to have some of the harder to get lowbe enchanting recipes that come out of some of the old world content. Some of them make wonderful leveling addons to twink weapons.

I know I am a little late here, but I have a number of lower level characters out there. My highest is a 70DK and that is just from last night.

I would love to start getting some lower level/old world raids. I have no experience at all and would like to get some so I can join in some of the end game stuff.

I am pretty open till I find a new job, so let me know what and when. And be willing to walk me thru a few things casue I don't really know what I am doing.
