Finally got in this morning. My name is Electrolite. I also made a goofy character named Vanilla Ice (yeah, looks just like him :D ).

Now I only played the very first part of the starter area (only level 2). I know this is open beta and some things will change. But a few things I would like to see / experience already. Hopefully these things will be ironed out...

Costume customization: you are limited to choices. For example, I tried to create a female character that had a certain look and feel. When I went to the template to add a cape, her chestpiece part of the costume was gone. When I went back to add that same chestpiece back, I lost any option to have a cape. There were also some errors selecting different skins.

Also, after making my costume (which looked awesome when it was done) - I got in game and it looked like a mess on the avatar - almost completely different than what I made at character selection.

Second. SOUND - there is none! At least on my machine. I have not checked their web site yet. Maybe there is a fix. But I would think there would be sound for this.

That is really it for now. It's beta, the issues will be addressed I am sure. Like I said before this is something I might dabble in, but I am not a big superhero / comic fan. If you thoroughly enoy the genre, you will love this game - guaranteed. Just give them time to work the kinks out.

I'm buying the lifetime subscription right now!

As a guy, i feel bad saying that I agree...but imagine the concept here...

The only way I can use a "lightning" pattern to symbolize my theme (Electrolite - Dual Blade / Electricity to start) - is by having a chest piece with a lightning pattern. You cannot have a lightning pattern on your breastplate without a chest piece.

So I'll follow up with my initial impressions after my play time last night. The character creator was way above anything I was imagining, to the point that I think there may be too many options if that's possible. Once I got in game, the character looked pretty close to how I created it, but I could see how subtle differences might be a big deal for certain character types.

As soon as I got into the game, it was like I was back in CoH again. The same kind of graphics, the same sort of animations, etc. Just walking around felt a little clunky, but nothing horrible. The intro area worked out well, basically acting as it's own little zone with quests and everything as opposed to a "training" type area where it just steps you through the controls. I also like that they took the public quest idea from Warhammer, it's always been something I liked. The travel powers are cool, and I like the idea that you'll eventually get two. I picked acrobatics, and was afraid that it wasn't going to give me as much freedom as some of the others like flight. But man it rocks, I love ziping around the ground only to hit jump and end up a good 4-5 character heights above the ground while doing a flip.

The minuses were the graphics, which while I know it's suppose to be cartoony could be a little sharper. I can't quite put my finger on it, but it seems they could be better while sticking with the theme they are trying to create. And even with the graphics they do have, my video card was practically glowing last night. I forgot to turn up the fan speed before I entered the game, and when I remembered and went back to check on it, it was running at almost 100 C.

But the thing that I know is going to suck me for good in is the huge amount of laitude you have with character powers. After putting the initial points into a basic power or two, pretty much everything unlocks from the other power sets. I'm amazed at how easy it's going to be to pair the single sword powers with something completely different like the darkness powers, and still have room to throw in some other random powers from other sets. And from what I've seen, there isn't too much of a "stat issue" like some other games might have when doing this. For example, it's not like I'm going to now have to worry about pumping up melee damage stats like str, dex etc and typical ranged damage stats like int. All of the stats are important in their own way, with only 1-3 not being useful for any particular archtype (tank vs healing vs dps vs pet). I could be wrong on this, but we'll see how hybrid characters like mine do as they get higher in level.

Either way, I'm envisioning creating at least 3 characters:

Shadow - Single blade, darkness, and some sorcery thrown in. The character himself will be somewhere in between his namesake from FF6 and Grey Fox from the Metal Gear series (minus the robotic suit).

The Chimes - A flying female with pure ranged dps. Her focus will be fire powers, but with ice (representing water) and force (representing air) powers thrown in too. It's based on a trio of three creatures from the Sword of Truth series.

Unnammed Mechahero - A different take on a power suit hero. Imagine putting your typical nerdy IT worker into a badass suit of armor. Power wise I'm looking mainly at power armor and gadgetry and working towards being a tank archtype. The name isn't decided yet, but it will probably be some sort of computing pun.

You REALLY have to pay attention to what you are doing with a hybrid character. You can make it extremely hard on yourself without having melee, range, CC, and some sort of self buff. Which is easy to lose track of with all the goodies.

Yeah I can see how that would happen. But I enjoy planning out my characters, and now that I know what I'll need to have I think I can make it work.

It was funny, I saw some dude running around getting drilled by flying mobs....he had picked no ranged or pull to abilities.

What is CC?

Crowd Control

Crowd Control, of which there are usually multiple types:
-Root (enemy can't move, or moves slowly, but usually can make any other actions)
-Stun (enemy can't do anything, isn't broken by damage)
-Mezmerize (enemy can't do anything, is broken by damage)
-Knockback (enemy is thrown away from you)

Knockback is the one I like the most...
