Do I need a new client?

I get back into town tonight and was planning on logging in this evening.

Question I have is, do I need to download a new client if I was in the closed beta?

I'm thinking it just patches that, but I have heard, in-game, that it runs smoother with the new client download, like .7 or something like that.
