View Full Version : a note about PvP...

Well, I like the PvP stuff that they did. I am actually winning and killing more than I am dying...

But something sort of concerns me, and be on the lookout for something to change. One of my characters that I kept on my wife's account is named Necro Bot. He has 10k Appeal points. I did this very easily by making sure I chose nothing but ranged skills.

I tried PvP with Electrolite, and was very frustrated. It is because her energy builder is melee. This works great for PvE; but really stinks for PvP because everyone is constantly moving and auto attacking to build energies, then blasts away.

My point is that if you plan on PvP, make certain you take a range energy builder - because melee energy builders for PvP is going to really stink. Now on Sub Zero, I have a melee skill - but my energy builder is ice bolt. Once another member roots a target; or if I get lucky enough to get an ice prison out of ice bolt - I can rush up and slice away. PVPERS: Make Certain your energy builder is ranged. It makes a world of difference.

Most melee (if not all) "trees" have a stun/root/snare ability you can snag pretty early for PvP.

I have seen a lot of melee complaining about PvP..when I ask them if they have the stun/root/snare they all say no.

Also, dual sword users can add on a debuff to their ranged kick that knocks people out of travel mode :). I am sure others have same ability.

That is because most people do the following...

Here is an example:

1 - Rain of Steel
1 - Force Blast
5 - Blade Tempest
8 - Personal Force Field

The Personal Force Field is NECESSARY. Even if you go straight for the tier 1 root / stun, that only affects 1 target while taking a ton of damage from other players. You can absorb that damage with Personal Force Field.

By the time you get another skill, you are thrown into tier 2 PvP (11-20).

I was PvP'ing just fine without personal shield. 12+ "kills" to 0 death several matches. Just all about how you go about it.

I guess I am marked for death....LOL :) everyone swarms toward me even if I find the most unlikely places to hide and do damage from. touche!

Been using Mutitions and Teleport in PVP. So far it has been working great. EAT LEAD SUCKA!

Munitions fan myself!

I never made it to 14 in beta, but during the event I got bumped to level 40. If you ever saw the Christian Bale movie Equilibrium, you gotta love bullet ballet and that other close combat move that uses pistol shots and strikes.

Yeh, I like the movie a lot, and I am impressed with the combat moves they have for the munitions tree. I remember the developer from City of Heroes, he'd always posted about wanting to do a dual pistol powerset for gunkata, he finally got to do it when he took over this game.

Not sure what to do for the real game though. Dual pistols is cool for concept, but I might have to dip into shotgun and some other stuff to actually keep up with the difficulty of mobs.

Thinking of going for a Pilgrim type character from the Image Wetworks comic books. Lotsa gun knowledge, speed and a little affinity to mess with time(teleport and super reflexes).
