Me and DethMstr were trying to finish up Canada by defeating Rakshasa??? There was a bug that kept Deth from coming back after he died so we decided to go back to Canada to see if that would work but it wouldn't load. So we decided to turn the game off and try to reload it but now it only makes it to the retrieving character list and will go no farther. Sooo we are stuck and was wondering if anybody had any ideas.

but how are people enjoying this game, is it alot of fun or just a game to pass time until something else comes out. Is it like COH?

I'm not playing it as much as some previous online games, but it's mostly beacuse I'm real busy right now. When I do get time to play it's been great. I stopped playing CoH years ago, but I'd say it's similar but improved. The character creator is extremely extensive, even more so than CoH. There's just a lot more options (masks vs hoods vs animal heads vs robot heads for example), and things such as your character's stance and facial expressions are all customizable and changeable after creation. I'm definitely a one-character kind of MMO player, but I've already got two characters to level 15 and have another 2 or 3 more I still want to make and level up. The power themselves are entertaining. My mecha-demon character has supernatural and might abilities, and it never gets old swinging my chain around and wailing henchmen off buildings and ledges to their doom.
You have almost complete flexibility with power selections, to the point that you could make a hero that has fire powers with gadgets for support and can raise undead minions. The interplay between power strengths and stats are a little complicated, and takes some researching on the forums and wiki's so you don't gimp your character. You also get a travel power pretty much immediately, and will have two different travel options by level 40. Leveling is mission based, and it's a little slow but nothing horrible. From what I've seen it takes a little longer to gain "lower" levels, but it doesn't slow down as much at higher levels. There's only 5 zones in place right now, but each one is huge and spans multiple levels. My level 15 characters have explored maybe a quarter of each of the two "lowbie" zones so far, and just starting doing missions in the city.
My next goal is to get one character to level 20, which is when I believe you get to create your nemesis. I'm not sure what the entire process is, but I'm hoping it's basically another character creation screen. I've also heard that once you create your nemesis, you will randomly get ambushed by their minions which will really get you to want to go after them whenever you get a mission to do so. I can envision myself playing it for the foreseeable future.

I am seeing it as a distraction game. It is a BLAST to play a customized champ, and if you follow the quest stories there is depth and humor to be had. I just dont see it replacing other MMO's.

He has pretty much hit the nail on the head here, but. I don't think there is a way to gimp your character. Make it do what you want it to do. Then it just comes down to you knowing your character and knowing your fight. This game has a lot of strategizing to it and required. Things don't rinse and repeat as often as other MMOs, which is good. So you may take a little longer to kill something then someone else, but that doesn't matter your survival comes down to you thinking before jumping into a fight. What matters is your superhero is just that, yours. No one elses, yours and yours alone. I feel using the wiki's and forums is making it another WoW, WAr, etc...play it this way or you suck attitude, NO i am not saying that is what shadow is saying so DO NOT GO THERE AT ALL. What I am saying is, champions is good because it's your game, your hero. A lot of people are wanting to say this is the best or that is....when yes they are right in some aspects that some setups will kill faster, but you are just another clone of another clone, with a different costume. is that what you want, honestly. I was told from the get go that all out gadgeteer would be unable to solo much at all. I have done most team quest alone and did the level 20 quests at 15 in the desert, alone, except for one. This gmae needs to remain a game of teh players, not the few who say spec like this...
Other then that leveling is strange. I go tto 15 in no time flat, 15-20 is taking forever... I hope it does speed up after 20 :) Though that won't stop me from playing.
This game just feels so unique, because of what you can do to your character, also, you earn more costumes so you can make even more changes....

My comment about the forums was mainly due to my recent findings regarding your two super stats. At levels 5 and 13 you pick a "super stat" out of the 8 available stat categories. Every level you gain in each of these two stats, so I thought (along with a lot of people) they were just buffs to whichever two stats that you wanted. I only recently found out that whatever two stats you pick actually determine the strength of ALL of your powers. It's not like other MMO's where str increases melee damage, dex ranged, int magic, etc. You define what two stats will directly affect your damage, and so you should plan out that decision based on the other bonuses for those stats. Yes I know one of strength's bonuses is increased melee damage, but from what I've read it's extremely easy to cap that damage using equipment only.

I'm done with the "Game as Investment" mentality. I had it with Ultima Online (bigtime). I had it with Everquest. I had it with Anarchy Online. And I really had it with Star Wars Galaxy.... and City of Heroes.
After that, MMORPG became something off to the side... and something I knew I would get bored with. World of Warcraft couldn't hold my attention, even though I appreciated it for the masterpiece of MMORPG that it is. LOTRO kept me around, but only on and off. It's canceled now... and relegated in the pile of "Never to be loaded again".
The problem isn't the games or game designs. It isn't about too easy or too hard... Quest on Rails or Sandbox.
I will never consider a game an "investment" ever again, in the same way I will never seek a party and nightclub lifestyle. It's not that I have "grown up" but that I have been there and done that to death.
That being said, no game will ever be more than a distraction to me. Champions Online is my current distraction because it is in a fiction genre I really enjoy. I will not power-level...or even really care about character advancement beyond late teens(ie... it will just happen without any concern). Again... I've played all those games with the "Go for the End Game" mentality, where an evening played without more than 1 level was a waste. I've been the Grand Master...many times in many games. And it's NEVER worth the grind.
I tell ya...my favorite part of CO to me right now is that I play it with the 360 controller. The feeling of action is further enhanced by playing it like an action game. This will keep me around simply because it isn't stressful.
Don't get me wrong, I love this game more than any other MMOG I've played in years. But that will never translate into a "Drive to play" they way it did in my earlier gaming days.

Yep, I know exactly what you meant. :) Mine was more of an irritated and going to kill a co-worker moment when I typed it lol. I meant more that the forums people are those that will try and force the game into that class based box. I agreed with what you said for the most part.
