Anyone using this stuff from Microsoft? It is a pretty neat little program that allows you to store a couple gigs of information on the web, and access your computers from anywhere using remote desktop.
I'm using it at home to keep my mom's computer up to date. Keeps me from getting so many "tech support" calls. ;)

I was using it primarily for the file synchronization functionality, though the remote control bits were also really handy. From what I've heard, Microsoft is planning on merging mesh into windows live sync in the next several months.

All I know is that it uses port 80 and is making my IT security team very paranoid.

If you like that, check out SkyDrive, OneCare, LiveWriter and the Sync tools.
The guy who told me about the Mesh/SkyDrive merger stuff said that they'd implement 500GB into it within a year or two.

What sync tools are you talking about? I am not interested at all in something like SkyDrive. What I like about Live Mesh is that it automatically syncs when I save a file on a folder on my desktop. I don't have to go to any website to "upload" a file, like with SkyDrive.
Then on another system I have installed on Mesh, I can have it set up to automatically sync at the same time, so when I go to that computer, I can go to the sync'd folder (which is on my desktop, not out in the cloud), and the file is already there. No going to a website to "download" the file.
If it isn't automatic, I'm not interested.
Live Mesh works like FJ's favorite tool of all time, Carbonite, except that it syncs with other systems that I choose to, so the file is still in my control, not just stuck out in the cloud somewhere. And It's all automatic.

Ive used foldershare and dropbox over the past couple of years to sync my files between my mac laptop, my home vista machine and my xp work machine.
Foldershare screwed up my music library on multiple occasions creating duplicates of all my music files.
I switched to dropbox (which does exactly the same thing without the remote desktop feature), however I quit using dropbox awhile back because it was costing me $10 a month to sync the 50gb of files i wanted.
Currently I use logmein.com free to remote to my home computers and my familys. I LOVE the logmein program and can control all my PC's from my iphone as well (it actually works very well)
