Couple questions:
-Would a different red wine work? (Specifically Merlot, but also curious about others)
-"Stew Beef" is the pre-cubed stuff that says for stewing right on it, right? Would a big roast work too? or do you think it might not cook all the way through well enough?
PS: Looking forward to making this soon!

You could always experiment and let me know

It's all in! Minus the beans.
Cubed my own chuck roast, which I think ultimately lead to slightly more fat being left on the meat than you'd see in the pre-cut stew meat. Doesn't bother me and I don't think it will change much. Grocery store didn't have white kidney beans, but "Great Northern Beans" are white and looked pretty close. I thought about chopping an onion into it, but by the time I had everything else in the crockpot was completely full (I had a 4 pound roast so I doubled everything in the recipe). Used Merlot instead of Bergundy since I didn't want to buy a new bottle of wine.
I can't wait til dinner....

It was delicious. I cut the carrots a bit too big, shame on me, but still delicious.
