PS3 anyone?

I went to Circuit City yesterday and got a brand new 80gig PS3, with Resistance 2, Little big PLanet, and the Sega Classiscs Collection game all for less then $400.

So looking for some good games, that is if I can get away from the crack that is Little Big Panet.

I did, and aside from these two games, every other one I have played so far has. I will admit it is slower then the XBox 360, but picture looks better.

But, I ran into the issue that our Blue Ray player burned up, so I needed another one. So I see this for $289, so what a better deal then to get the PS3, 3 games, a bluetooth headset, and the Remote Control all for $400. Couldn't apss it up. Now the wifey loves th Sega Classics game and Little Big Planet so it's become a Riggs' family gaming system now too lol.

I'd love to recommend some games, but I never used ours. I was always on the Xbox 360. Hawkeye played GTA4 and something else on it, though he too used the Xbox more. After almost of a year of having it (and rarely using it for much), we tried to watch some blu-ray movies we got from Netflix...and promptly discovered that the drive was dead for no apparent reason. It wouldn't read movies or games. We contacted Sony support and they sent us a box with return shipping labels to send it back to them to get it replaced. I think Hawkeye sent it out this past Wed/Thu, so we'll see how long it takes to get the new one sent back.

Though I normally don't like these types of games, the God of War Series has again and again delivered an amazing game in looks and playability!

What I ran into with my first PS3 was the fact that the PS3 specific ones were terrible. Resistance 2 is pretty good, but it's God of War 3 that will show the might of a PS3 only game. I am looking at Killzone 2 also.

Funny thing for me is I almost never turn my 360 on. Even more so with that horrible new dashboard. Not sure which games you played when you had your 1st one, but you can try any of these out.

Warhawk (still a great multiplayer game)

Metal Gear Solid 4

Uncharted (if you never played it, plus part 2 will be coming out maybe Q4)

Dead Space (you might have played it on 360)

Buzz! Quiz TV (great trivia party game)

Others you might not like, you don't seem like the driving/racing gamer to me.



There are however some really good games on the store to download too.

Update on my PS3: It arrived today via UPS, which means it was about 7 days from dropoff to getting it back. It appears they just replaced the blu-ray drive, as the serial number remained unchanged. Hawkeye is watching one of his netflix blu-rays now...we'll see how it goes.

Looks like you got a pretty good deal. I just cant bring myself to get one because it's not bringing anything new to the table that the the 360 or wii hasn't already, and I have those two systems not to mention it's way too expensive.

Blue-ray smooray big deal. I'm happy with the HD quality I get now and besides everything is headed to a streaming instant watch format through netflix, block buster, and others. They will prob need a new compression to stream blue-ray though.

Ture about not bringing much new to the table. Aside from teh Blue Ray and God of War 3. Little Big Planet is an amazing game that really put a groundbreaking, new spin on a video game. No game will EVER be the same, mainly because you can change so much.

I mainly got this for the blue-ray and the fact that several local friends have only this and no XBox 360, due to finances mainly, so I can hook up with them online and do some gaming too.

I got my PS3 last year purely for blu-ray. I had a stand-alone bluray player that died and (at the time) the PS3 was the best blu-ray player for the money. I was pleasantly surprised with some of the games though. However, their use of bluetooth for the remote control pisses me off beyond belief.

And I'm also not jealous of Landro, for reasons that go way beyond getting a better deal on the PS3 than me. :wink:

I have a PS3 and have not bought any new games sense the day I purchased it. God of War 3 does look pimp and if anything that looks good comes out I'll prob get it.

Our PS3 came with a motorstorm game. I don't recall which one though. I never played it, but I watched Hawkeye while he did after we initially set it up. It looked pretty cool.
