I went to try and log in this morning and my password wouldn't work (which I KNOW was correct). So i went to their website to reset anyway, and it wont let me. I then went to try and change my email for the account and it says that email is not the primary account holders email.
I'm just blown away, as I know my computer hasn't been compromised, I've never given out my password, and my password is extremely complicated (upper/lower case, numbers and symbols).
WTF??

It was revenge for Kermit the Frog, LOL.
No seriously man that sucks! Happened to me 3 tiems on WoW, wwhich was another reason I quit playing when I did. I was able to contact customer support and they finally worked it out, but it takes FOREVER! I think the last time it took about 2 weeks. I hope you can get this taken care of bro!
BTW, and this is important!!!! If they were able to change everything, they are able to charge WoW stuff to the card on record, unless you are using gaming cards....

You get the account locked down? I see a few things were taken from the Guild Vault - I have the Vault limited on purpose - and I wondered if you wanted your toons removed until things settled?

Yea, go ahead and disband all my toons in the meantime. Wasn't actually me that has removed anything from the vault, and it hasn't been me online since last night (I got the email from blizzard at 5am that my email addressed changed...which is when I assume I got hacked). Ive tried calling blizzard, but their account department is closed on the weekends (suck!).
Ive sent a web form request, so I guess its just going to be a matter of DAYS before they get back to me (after the damage has been done).
Do you see any of my toons online?
Of all weekends I finally get time to play, and of course I get hacked and cant log in!

I see there was activity across all 8 of your tagged toons 3 hours ago. Some stuff was taken, no big deal.
I demoted all your toons to Trustee, which restricts access.
Hope things get fixed up soon bud.

Thanks,
I have faith that blizzard will resolve things, however just worried how long it will take to get things straight (and my stuff back if they sell all the items and move the gold.
I'm just pissed, cuz I know there is nothing I could have done to prevent this. I haven't bought any WoW gold, not stupid enough to respond to some WoW phising scam, haven't posted details online, don't have a compromised computer....
I'm definitely buying that blizzard authenticator device after this event

Took me about 2 weeks all 3 times it happened. I never done any of the things either, they find ways though.
Plus, how greedy of Blizz to sell an authenticator, that should be free...
You won't get anything back, per say...you will be reset to the time of the change, so who knows what they had already taken. When it happened to me my Warrior was full might gear and 3/4 way through the PvP gear, when I was reset I only had 3 Might left and 2 pieces of my PvP gear., and out 2k gold. This was the day I stopped playing. Though I loved playing the War.

If I lose anything, I will definitely be considering quitting.
Being that I can only have small amounts of time to play, it takes me forever to get anywhere or anything. (did my first instance in 3 months last night, before that, I hadn't done a instance in probably 8 months).
So losing stuff for me, is too big of a cost.

Was exactly why I quit then too.
There is the chance they didn't do anything until after they changed everything.

Blizzard, unlike SOE, is pretty good about restoring lost items and money to hacked accounts.
Were you using any mods? I'm wondering if it was something that could have come from a mod.

Just questhelper.
I get spam email from gold farmers, so they know my email.
I looked on blizzards page, and it appears that the only things they need to know to change the account email is
email address
and
last 5 of product key
or
city of birth
So they had to figure out the last 5 of product key or my city of birth. Not quite sure how they figured either out, but I guess they did.

True they are, but they can only do what was done prior to the account info change. So if they didn't do anything until after they changed the account info then you're good. At least that's how it was when this happened to me.
Basically they reset your account characters to the moment right before the account info was changed, so if they left you alone until after then you're set, otherwise....

One of my co-workers had his g-bank robbed 3 times over the past 2 months, whatever web site they were using as a forum host had a key logger.

seems like the product key is just 5 characters - not case sensitive if I remember correctly - so with a generator it wouldn't be that hard (I say like I could do it)
Hows the response from Blizzard going so far?

Yea, I agree, not that hard. Kinda nuts.
I gotta get my hands on the Blizzard Authenticator (currently sold out on thier website)
Blizzard was lighting fast about responding.
I contacted them Saturday morning via email, account was locked down within a couple hours.
Got my forms to prove "i'm me" Saturday night, submitted them shortly thereafter
Got access back Sunday morning, petition a GM, got "MOST" of my gear back by 2pm Sunday.
HOWEVER, I still havent gotten my 4 blue items from a Friday night instance and my gold (around 3k I think). They responded about this however, and told me it may take a few weeks, as they have to further investigate.
I give Blizzard big thumbs up. That was impressive response time.

Very good to hear that things are coming together.
If they can't get the proof they need to refund everything, let us know. I for one would be more than happy to dedicate a night to farming back anything you've lost.

Really appreciate it guys, however I will be fine.
I did lose a few months worth of gold savings, however I don't spend much gold to begin with, so I'll be able to save up again.
For gear, i only really lost a nights worth of a instance (which did happen to result in 4 blues), however I am sure they would be obsolete by time I hit 80 anyhow.
