View Full Version : Upcoming MMOs....

I just wanted to put some feelers out from people in the LOA community.

First of all, I do not think there is an MMO that will beat WoW's popularity (unfortunately). LotRO came close at release with over 1 million beta accounts, but steadily declined. WAR is holding it's own (and quite frankly prefer the WAR playstyle when I get a chance).

However, there are some upcoming MMOs this year, and being the curious cat that I am, was wondering if there is strong support for them and if LOA will try to make a presence there.

Dragon Age by BioWare (http://dragonage.bioware.com/?) - highly anticipated, BioWare's first MMO (makers of Baldur's Gate series).

Star Wars: The Old Republic (http://www.swtor.com/) also by BioWare

Darkfall Online (http://www.darkfallonline.com/) - Aventurine SA

Star Trek Online (http://www.startrekonline.com/) - Cryptic Studios

Runes of Magic (http://www.runesofmagic.com/us/index.html)

I am sure there may be more, but this is all I could find right now.

Sorry...Dragon Age is not an MMO - Star Wars is going to be BioWare's first MMO (EA is the actual publisher)

I'm mostly excited about Jumpgate Evolution myself.

I'm rather tired of fantasy at this point.

Champions Online, DC Online, and Star Wars Old Republic are all looking good to me.

Champions Online and Dc Online are going to have to fight it out. Even though Champions looks to have a better character system and a proven track record, DC Online has the bigger sales potential with iconic NPCs and a Comicbook street cred with Jim Lee's involvement.

And Star Wars Old Republic has the most potential to cut into WoWs market.

Champions looks OK, but I feel it will end up jsut another CoH.

DC Online, if it ever truly happens...

Jumpgate, I think I would love that sort of game as long as it doesn't go with Eve's advancement system where it's basically a second job to do anything....

Star Wars maybe...but I can't stomach most SW fans, outside of LOA, that take the games, movies, stories to seriously.
