I finished this book last night and thought it was a "must read"
One Second After - William Forstchen (Amazon) (http://www.amazon.com/One-Second-After-William-Forstchen/dp/0765317583/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top)
The premise of the story how a small town deals with the US being EMP'ed by terrorists and what it takes from them to survive. It goes into great detail of what happens with the basic things that we need to survive that are so intertwined with electronics and industrialization. The author is a historian and makes great analogies to past cultures, wars and how they dealt with the situations historically.
The social and political choices they make to "triage" who will live and who will die are chillingly realistic.
I think this books is a must read for all politicians and individuals. It points out just how fragile we are as a nation and what we must do individually and as a nation to prepare to defend against the weapon that terrorists and regimes like Iran and North Korea are trying develope (US, Russia & China already have it) that would send us back 500 years in one shot.
