Ok so I am playing the trial version of WoW. Name is Rhogtsu, eventually an Orcish Hunter. Apparently with the trial version I'm pretty limited in what I can do. But add me to your friends list and I guess we can talk! :)

Are you old enough to play?
/join LOA and we should be able to chat that way, too.

Unfortunately tagging is one of the things you can't do with a trial version if I'm not mistaken.
Welcome back to the internets man!

I'd love to do something with somebody in LOA. I'm a newbie Orc Hunter, so you probably know the general area where I'm at...if you logon to the game, just look for my name and try to message me if the game will let you. Damn Trial Edition...

The game does seem pretty fun, I just wish I wasn't so limited in what I can do. Also, after my trial runs out, can I keep the same account and just start paying? Or do I have to go out and buy a retail copy and start all over?

I think all the restrictions are lifted when you buy the full version (so you can keep your character. You can buy the full version online, or at a retail store

All you need is a product key, so you can either purchase online or in a store. You won't need to re-install.

You get to keep your characters from what I understand. That's part of the incentive.

The "Recruit a Friend" thing is pretty cool though, for new entants to the game. From my understanding, you can summon your new friend at will, you get bonuses to experience, and a free special mount for the referer.
That might be a bit more advantageous than keeping a free trial toon, especially if you hook up with someone who wants to level a new toon alongside you.

yea the recruit a friend thing rocks. I forgot about that. You get like 3x the experience for 90 days along with a host of other benefits.
Wouldn't be a bad thing if you decided to stay with WoW Tsu. I could email you a recruit trial (you'd have to start from scratch, but not bad considering you'd get 3x the experience for 90 days

is Lothar always full? I've been waiting for 30 minutes to login and I haven't moved up in the queue.

Not always but its not uncommon, the old girl has been popular since the new expansion. It seems to be full of LOAish guilds that drag all they're friends family and co-workers. I bumped into two people in a pug that were both dragged to Lothar by co-workers hehe.

I'm dating a woman who is actually willing and eager to become a gamer. I first introduced her to computer games using Portal. That seemed to be a good call. It was a great way to be introduced to things most of us take for granted, such as basic movement controls. The game ramps up the difficulty at a reasonable pace, and it's more about strategy and puzzle solving than about twitch. She's now graduated to the original KotOR, and we have #2 ready and waiting. We've discussed the eventual release of SWtoR as well. I've been thinking that WoW might be a good introduction to the online genre. It'll run on her very non-gaming laptop (I believe). And Methus has been telling me about the refer-a-friend deal. I could re-activate my account and invite her... and enjoy the mutual benefits.
So stay tuned. I'll let you know if it's gonna happen. :user:

WoW runs pretty good on non-gaming/older machines. She might have to turn down some of the video settings but she won't miss any of the game by doing so.
Mine and Nam's old machines were dying and WoW was one of the few things they would still run.

WotLK was a little too advanced for our (admittedly older) (and nongaming)laptop but works even on our older desktop systems. Something newish but not high-end can be absolutely beautiful.

Got her a 10-day trial (linked to my re-activated account of course).
Still going over some of the very basics. Just movement and control takes a bit of getting used to. The KotORs she's been playing are really games that exist in a two-dimensional plane. So just staying behind her avatar and not looking up into the sky is step one. We made a pair of Tauren druids and did the initial plainstrider quest before I had to hit the sack. We'll try a bit more later today.
