I've replace the Vista install on the presario that my daughter uses with the 7 beta, and it was a smooth install and again... a much faster and more stable OS.
I'm now running Windows 7 as my main OS, and things have been groovy.
IE8 is an improvement over 7, with a very fast load on any pages. It's faster than Firefox... even so, I am not sold on a move from Firefox because I am used to it and have no real complaints. One much ak themselves, who fast is fast enough... and is anything faster a diminished return.
We will see.

It's sad that the Windows 7 Beta is more stable than Vista with SP1. Perhaps Microsoft will finally be able to drag me away from XP once it's released.

Ive been running windoes & for about 3 weeks now ... yes I got it early that to a place we'll call TPB. All I can say is vista what vista. the only bug I have found so far is iTunes doesent seem to like windows7 very much, my PC locks up pretty hard for about 10 minutes when i turn in itunes. I also don't like that fact they kept the UAC in their, but they did make it eaiser to turn off.

I was told by a friend that when he installed his Anti Virus wasn't compatible, so while installing another he was hit about 1000 times and did end up with some sort of worm/wirus.
Have any of you had this issue?

very much so.
windows 7 in the current state would not let me update my anti-virus, even avg.
it makes you use the ones that microsoft itself wishes, and that leads to payments.
avg free is avg "free" for a reason.
also, I didn't like the fact that I tried installing daemon tools and alcohol 120% for quicker mounting of disc images ( all of my backups I burned to an iso awhile back for ease, and the lack of a CD drive which drunkenly one night was taken off. don't ask! )
windows 7 won't even let them become installed. at all.
after about a week on the main computer, it was quickly downgraded to vista. ( which I downgraded to xp again previously, but then got the vista itch once again. )

I'm running AVG free with no problems. Updates as normal.
I had problems with Daemon Tools, which disheartened me as I am an ISO packrat, but found Virtual Clone Drive does work without issue, and is in fact a more user friendly product than DT.
I just bought a Brother MPC 240C printer/scanner/copier/fax machine and was able to get it going with the Vista Install of the drivers and software. For the most part, I've been having a good time with it.
I've had zero crashing or freezing on either system. I leave them running and have noticed no memory leaks.
These are the problems I've had:
Virtual Drive software incompatibility - Resolved with equatable free alternative.
Video artifacting on system screen popups - unresolved and infrequent
Did not recognize my Vista partition - Resolved. Actually a feature so you can assign drive letter, since 7 natively wants to be C:
Did not recognize my Netgear NIC. Did not pursue issue as I wasn't using it anyway.

My biggest question before I install this on my computer is.. Can we play games on it? Has anyone gotten to any games to see how it runs (or if it runs at all). I would love to give the beta a try but if games like EQ2, TF2, and L4D don't work I have no use for it at all.

Man, you people scare me. I'm sure it's fun/neat to play with the new OS, but for daily and regular use? That's insane. In August it will cease to work and you will be forced to reformat and install a different OS. I'm sure, by that time, it'll be the release version of Win7 but that's still going to be a pain, especially when you have to back up all your save games and go through those reactivation systems on Steam and so on. To say nothing of all the "phoning home" the beta does.
Good luck with that!
