For the fun of it I just checked the Shadowbane home page. It is now both free to download and to play. Maybe I will take a look at it when I get my new PC. They still patch it and keep the game up to date. No idea how they can make money on it if it's free.

I don't even remember what they did with my toon when Treachery was dissolved doe to our domination, heh. It was a fun game back in the day, I still say the full destruction mechanic was one heck of a social experiment, and either vastly succeeded or horribly failed depending on your point of view. "Play to crush"... unless you got crushed, then whine and quit the game... roflmao. The serverwide truces elsewhere - anyone attacks another town the rest of the server attacks you - were pretty pathetic.

Fond memories, but I doubt I could find time to mess around with it again.

They left out the "unbearably boring" bullet point. Wonder why?

Last time I checked my account the servers had been wiped. This game is toast, but the grind is still there.

Its a shame. Forget they were an full time pvp game with world conquest. Even their character classes were imho fun, innovative and unique. I'd have played their game as a pure pve game, just for the classes and the lore. They did some good things that I hope are remembered one day.

I beta tested this game back in the day, was totally absorbed in everything about it, then launch and... uh... :( tried it again when i first heard it was free, didn't make it out of the starter zone before i remembered the pain.

I tried to play, and would lock up, crash, and otherwise hard to do a hard-reset of my machine after 5 minutes.

Maybe 10. But it wasn't fun. I could see where it COULD be fun. just couldn't get intot he game for crashing all the time

I played briefly. The box had a cool looking minotaur on it. That's about the only positive thing I can say about it, in my experience.

Yup I messed around with this a few months ago, got to around level 12 and deleted it. The game just doesn't have enough content at the early levels to keep me interested.
