since this is nearly the only site i frequent on a daily basis i can't say its a site issue, but when I'm trolling the forums on the new machine a thread will say new posts so i goto the thread initially and all i see are the posts i saw the last time i was here. If i refresh, however, the new posts will pop up. I have to do this everytime i visit a preexisting thread.
is there a setting i'm not seeing thats saving the forum to my pc for faster load times that might be doing this?

What browser are you using? I'd use Firefox if you aren't.
For Internet Explorer (I assume that is what you are using)
1. Click on the "Tools" button in the toolbar.
2. Select "Internet Options" in the popup menu that follows.
3. When the "Internet Options" dialog box appears, click the "General" tab,
4. Next to "Browsing History", click "Settings".
5. Under the "Check for new versions of stored pages" it should be set to "Automatic" by default. If it is "Automatic" change it to "Every time I visit the website". If it is "Never", change it to "Automatic" and see if that fixes the problem.

In other words, it's a caching problem and whatever that is, it's configured in your browser settings.
