Thickness is not an issue with me. The area on which I'll be placing the tv is plenty deep.

I just keep thinking back to the issues Nam and Morri posted about regarding their DLP television. I think that personally I'd much rather have LCD or Plasma technology, even if that means a smaller size for the amount of money spent. But that's just me... I own a 32" and 42" LCD.

Size does matter. If it were boobies, I'd go with the smaller ones. But in TV, I'd pick the big one. Plus, Mitsubishi is high quality. I've owned many many Mitsubishi products. Never had one fail. I still have a 22 year old Mitsubishi wall monitor (the ones they make the monitor walls with, not one that mounts to the wall) and it works just fine.

Panasonic gets super ratings on all their TV's
Our issue with the TV was Sears - not Panasonic. Had we called Panasonic first, the TV would have been fixed in 3 days not 2 months.
Anyway...
We just bought a 32" Panasonic LCD TV for our bedroom.
I'd say find a local store that carries them both and watch them both for a couple minutes.

I just like that smiley.

I have seen them both and both look nice. Just the thought of being able to have a 65" is exciting. The only thing is that I will not be directly in front of the tv. I will be about 6 feet to the left of it. I think that angle is still ok. 12' back and a few feet off center?

12' back? I'd definitely go 65" ;)

Go with the 65". Especially if you play XBox 360, PS3, and such on yours. The Plasmas are still renown for game systems burning them up. To quote my sister-in-law 1 year before buying a plasma...."My husband says they just run hotter, that's all."
I just laughed....
So now it's one year later, they play a lot of xbox, and it's dead. HAHAHAHA!
Go with the DLP, more often a longer life then the plasmas.

DLP's have a more natural image than Plasma or LCD for things like movies. Just make sure you put them in a fairly dark room for daytime viewing or you won't be able to see shit. I'm serious about that - in a bright room they get washed out pretty easily. And make sure to figure in a $100 +/- bulb replacement every 2 years or so into the cost of ownership.
I wouldn't worry about plasma burn-in if you break the TV in according to the recommendations in the owner's manual.
