With all the problems I've been having I decided to repair my os. The problem is that I can't seem to find the folder it came on and the code is on the back.
I'm so screwed.
I do have a ubuntu disk but that won't help with this os.
Any suggestions??????

Call Microshaft and talk to a tech and explain it to them they will give you a new code.

if you can get it to boot in safemode and load up a registry editor there is a place there where it records your actual COA key.

Called M$ and got a new Key but I can't get IE to work. I tried to install it from my XP (upgrade) disk but still a no go.
I'm using Ubuntu atm so at least I can use the Interweb. It won't even let me delete the program. Nothing shows up in the Add/Remove section

You can't delete Internet Explorer. It's part of the OS. Your best bet would be to download IE8 and install it. When you run Ubuntu, can you save a file to your hard drive, that XP can see?
Here's the link. (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=341c2ad5-8c3d-4347-8c03-08cdecd8852b&displaylang=en)
That should take you directly to the IE8 for Windows XP 32 bid download.

I tried to do IE onto my external hd when using ubuntu and firefox . When I went to look at it with windows it was a text file.
How can I save it with ubuntu and have windows read it?

Sorry. I know nothing about Ubuntu. I need to install it and test it out.

You don't have Firefox on your Windows installation?
Other than that, there's no trick to saving files in Linux so Windows can read them. You just have to make sure you're saving to a FAT or NTFS partition.
