...Well, the video is of the second, but it was the same set list.
Ok, so here was the deal. Two weekends ago there was this thing called the Battle of the 2 Day bands. On a Friday night a whole bunch of people get together and names are drawn at random to form several 4 man bands. The bands then have 2 Days to come up with 2 original songs and one cover song. Each band is given a cd with seven different songs of which they can do a cover or medely of. 3 words are also picked at random which have to be used in some form during the performance, either as lyrics or props, etc... Each draws an item from a box and uses it to come up with the band name. Finally, each band comes up with a song title which is given to another band to be used as the title for one of the original songs.
So, my band...
We drew an old Atari game (Swordquest: Fireworld aka Worst... Game... Evar.) and were given the song title "She Took Me to the Cornfield and I Kissed Her Between the Ears"
Our Band Name: Joystick and the Felons
Cover song: Final Countdown (very bad cover)
Originals: Joystick... and She Took Me to the Cornfield and I Kissed Her Between the Ears
Long story short... We got 4th out of 4... not that we were totally horrible, but the other bands were really good and a lot more experienced.
The winner and runnerup bands were supposed to open for some real bands last weekend, but due to scheduling conflicts, 3rd and 4th were the only ones available to play... So we got to practice a little bit more and it got quite a bit better...
